Christmas Card Post #6

"Christmas Gift for You" handmade Christmas card "Christmas Gift for You" handmade Christmas card Inside the "Christmas Gift for You" handmade card You may have remembered my previous posts of cards in which I have created presents for the front of them. I used a silver present for the Valentines Day card "Gift 4 You" here . The star is actually gold. I haven't done too many long, thin cards. But, I like to create them once in a while. The inside message was a custom message from my customer to her aunt. You can view and purchase more beautiful, handmade cards at http://www.ruthiesgreetings.com/ .

"Church Christmas" handmade Card I created this card for my customer's pastor. The silver sections on the windows and cross are metallic silver. Christmas Card # 4 Post

"Mama's Present" handmade Christmas card Here is the  completed "Mama's Present" Ruthie's Greetings Character Card. It has the Matthew 2:11 verse at the bottom which says, "And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, ad worshipped him: and when they had opened there treasures, they presented unto him gifts;gold, and frankincense, and myrrh".  I really enjoyed  creating this card. It brings us back to the reason why we celebrate Christmas. Through the years, the Christmas holiday has become sooo commercial that many of us have forgotten why we celebrate it. I wrote a blog post, a few posts ago about how Christmas colors became Christmas Colors . The article cited in my post talks about red, green, yellow, silver/white. Now, I have noticed that the colors of pink and other colors have been used for decorations. This is one of  the results of the Christmas holiday has become more comme

"Our Anniversary" Custom Card (Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Edition)

Image
"Our Anniversary" (Omega Psi Phi fraternit Edition) Handmade Card I was hired to create this card for my customer's anniversary. She wanted to give the card to her boyfriend, who is a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity. She requested purple and gold (the colors of his fraternity) to be the colors for the card. So, I thought it would be a good idea to include the Greek letters on the male characters t-shirt. I will be posting more of these cards customized with different fraternities & sororities. We can customize your next anniversary card at http://www.ruthiesgreetings.com/ !

Tips For Overwhelmed or Tired Crafters

It can be very overwhelming when you are a crafter or craft business owner. Some of us also have full time jobs on top of everything else. Here are some tips that I have found to work. for me. 1. Plan Ahead- It helps me to draw the design and colors that I am thinking, and then move onto the next step. It doesn't matter if you do not know how to draw. The important part is to record your idea. Sometimes you do have those inspirational moments by God where things flow without a plan in sight :-) 2. Have Your Materials Ready- I read this one in the article on http://www.etsy.com/ by Kiawarra called "Work Habits That Work" . She advises that you put out all of your tools and materials that you are going to need before you begin working on your project. I love this tip because it's fustrating when you have to look for an item while you're in the middle of completing an order . This way you can stay focused and keep moving :-) 3. Work Ahead- Start working
