"Birthday Flowers" Purple & Cream Handmade Birthday Card

Image
"Birthday Flowers" handmade card I love this card! I was hired to create this card for a friend's pastor's birthday. The colors for her church are purple and gold. So, these were the colors that I used for the card. Because my customer didn't have any specific requests for the card, I decided that "simple but pretty" would be a a good theme for her card. The flowers are drawn and outlined with metallic purple paint. I used a layering technique for the buttons. I thought the cross in the front was appropriate.  My customer provided me with a customized message for the inside.

"My Little Valentine" (Blue & Pink) Handmade Cards

Image
"My Little Valentine" (pink & blue) handmade card I know that it is not Valentine's Day lol. But I wanted to talk about this card. I have not put it on my website http://www.ruthiesgreetings.com/ , but I will post it soon... wayyy before Valentines Day of next year lol.  I was hired to make this card for a co-worker's 8 year old son. He wanted to give a custom card to his friend lol. So I thought of the idea of two kids rolling a ball and decided to put a heart on the ball to make it more of Valentines Day card. When we think about Valentines Day, we think of heart, red, pink, flowers, etc. I wanted this card to represent the two children and not be too serious. So I decided to use blue and pink, and bugs lol. My friend, her son, and his friend loved the card! Mission Accomplished!!!

"My Superstar Student" Handmade Card http://www.ruthiesgreetings.com/ "My Superstar Student" Card Inside:"Dear ________, Your grades prove that you can do anything when you focus and work hard. I am (We are) very proud of you"   *Bible Verses at the inside bottom are optional: Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me". * When I was a child, I struggled with the learning disability dyslexia. Dyslexia causes you to see your letters and numbers backwards. For example, I would confuse the letter "p" for the letter "q". However, I had my grandmother "Ruthie" and a few teachers that continued to support and encourage me. I am very greatful for that. So, I have began creating a "Back to School' line of cards that will encourage your child to go above and beyond the norm in class. My handmade school cards will show your child that you love and believe in their abilit

Scrap Paper Bookmark Challenge

Image
My handmade bookmark challenge using scrap cardstock. I started making bookmarks about two years ago. I like creating the bookmarks because they are quick and easy to make.  I like to create them for charities and local art programs. So I decided to use my scrap cardstock to create bookmarks. The fun part is that you can't use new paper. I had a variety of colors, so that made things even better. I used a Melissa & Doug (R) hole punching kit, markers, paint pens, craft strings, and my own cut-outs to create the bookmarks. Let's see if you can do the same! If you want your pics posted on my blog, please let me know! Ready, Set, GO!

Valentines Day Cards!

Image
"Valentine Flowers" Cherry and Banana Ed. Eventhough it is August lol, I just wanted to highlight this card. My customer wanted a pretty card for her Grandma. I decided to create this card using scrapbook paper. I used a ruler to tear the paper as easily as possible. I also love to use buttons. So I really enjoyed creating this card. My customer's grandmother loved it. We  previously created this card a couple of years ago, and I liked the design. So we continued using different colors.   "Valentine Flowers" Valentine Flowers" (Pink & Green) Ed. *All cards are copyrighted under Ruthie's Greetings, LLC, and may not be copied, reproduced, or used for any purpose without permission.

"Flowers for My Flower" Handmade Thank you Card

Image
"Flowers for My Flower" This card was created for a former co-worker to give to our supervisor. I had previously created this card using blue, green, yellow, and orange. So I decided to use these colors. I used adhesive foam strips to make the vase and "thank you" sign stick out from the card.

"Our Love Jersey" Handmade Card

Image
"Our Love Jersey" This card was fun to create. My customer wanted a red black/white or silver card that said "I Love You".  He already received a red, black, and silver card so I figured the white would be best. I decided to use a stamp for the background of the red paper. My customer wanted a long poem. So, we decided to have a team jersey with her and her beau's name. I actually ended up using white out for the white on the jersey. I made a mistake on the white. I was going to outline the  black letters on the jersey with white.  But I liked the white out. The spongy surface of the brush made a nice design. So I decided to stick with it.But, I think I will use acrylic paint next time. "Keep Praying, Grandma" Handmade Card

"Keep Praying, Grandma" handmade card This card design was created about 4 years ago when my grandmother Ruth was sick. I was getting ready to go to the hospital when she passed away. So, I hope that this can help someone else's loved one :-) Inside it reads: Keep believing in Him, and you will find the Healing within. Isaiah 53:5 says that 'By His stripes WE are healed''." -When I created this actual card, I had just become interested in using buttons on my cards. I love this design!
